TCS Contribution Policy
TRINITY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
A MINISTRY OF TRINITY CHURCH OF LUBBOCK, INC.
Contributions to TCS designated for the use of a specific individual or individuals are to be discouraged. In keeping with Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Tax Code, such gifts cannot be reflected on the donor’s record of contributions.
TCS will accept most types of non-cash gifts such as corporate stocks, land, furniture, clothes, books, art, etc. A letter from TCS will be sent to the donor, acknowledging the date of receipt and providing a brief description of the property or items donated; however, the acknowledgement letter will NOT provide an estimated fair market value of the property donated and neither will the donor’s record of contributions reflect receipt of the non-cash gift. Your accountant/tax preparer can assist you with this.
To be included in a given year’s record of contributions, the contributions must be received by December 31, or if mailed, the envelope must reflect a postmark no later than December 31.
The value of time or services contributed by an individual to TCS will not be valued by TCS or posted to the donor’s record of contributions.
TCS, in the exercise of its educational, religious and charitable purposes, has established a tuition assistance fund to assist persons in financial need. TCS welcomes contributions to the tuition assistance fund held by the TCS Foundation.Gifts to tuition assistance cannot earmark/designate individuals to receive that assistance.
The administration of the fund, including all disbursements, is subject to the exclusive control and discretion of TCS.
Donors wishing to make contributions to the tuition assistance fund subject to these conditions may be able to deduct their contributions if they itemize their deductions. Donations for tuition assistance should be made payable to TCS Foundation, with a notation that the funds are to be placed in the tuition assistance fund.
SHORT-TERM MISSIONS TRIPS
Annually, TCS students are encouraged to participate in short-term missions trips. The trip participants raise funds for their trip.Contributions can be made to missions with a “suggestion” for the participant.
Contributions for mission trips are made with the understanding that TCS must have full administrative and accounting control over the funds, including all decisions about who will receive a benefit from the gift.
If the participant does not go on the trip, the gift cannot be refunded to the donor. If the participants that is “suggested” for raises gifts in excess of their part of the trip, the gift cannot be refunded/given to the participant.
Donors wishing to make contributions in support of mission trip participants subject to these conditions may be able to deduct their contributions if they itemize their deductions. Donations for short term mission trip support should be made payable to TCS.
